in Memory of Manolis
A small tribute to my neighbour Manolis who died last month. Manolis contracted leprosy as a child in Athens and his parents fought hard to prevent him from being sent to Spinalonga leper colony. He was a great help in her research for Victoria Hislop when she was writing her best seller 'The Island". He was a lovely man and he will be sadly missed by a lot of people.

He looks like a lovely man. I'm glad he was recognised more widely before he died. I hope one day to visit Spinalonga.
ReplyDeleteManoli, forner Andartes fighter, adopted me, the German, as his son and neighbour, because I revived the ruin next door. I laid him to rest in the cemetery of Pano Elounda. His soul is forever alive.
